The video, showing an uncontrolled crowd at the trailer launch of Pushpa 2 in Patna was falsely spread by linking it to Maha Kumbh. By: Ashish Maharishi - Published: Feb 14, 2025 at 10:13 AM - Updated: Feb 14, 2025 at 01:42 PM - New Delhi (Vishvas News). Millions of devotees have gathered to take a holy dip at the Sangam in the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Amid this, many fake videos and pictures are going viral on social media. Vishvas News has investigated these claims to reveal the truth. Now, another video is going viral, showing the crowd throwing slippers at the security personnel. Some social media users are falsely attributing this video to the Maha Kumbh. Vishvas News investigated this post and revealed that this video dates back to November 17, 2024, when Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandhana attended the trailer launch of Pushpa 2 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. At that time, the crowd became uncontrollable and the same footage is now falsely linked to Maha Kumbh. Our investigation confirms that the viral post is misleading. What is going viral Facebook user ‘Hari Narayan Shakya’ posted a video on February 13, 2025 with the caption, “In Kumbh, nationalists and Sanatani people threw slippers at army men..!! Had they been Muslims, this would have been the news on all government media channels today, but perhaps all this is allowed to the people of this religion..!!” See the archived version of the post here. Investigation To investigate the viral claim, Vishvas News extracted the key frames of the viral video and searched them using Google Lens. The results revealed that this video has been viral on social media, with claims linking it to Mahakumbh and Pushpa 2. The oldest version of the video was linked to Pushpa 2. Posting the video on January 31, 2025 an Instagram handle stated that the public created a ruckus in Gandhi Maidan, Patna during the trailer launch of Pushpa 2. During our investigation, we found a related report on a YouTube channel named ‘Bihar Tak’. The people seen in the viral video match those in this report. In this video, dated November 17, 2024, it was stated that during the trailer launch of Pushpa 2 in Patna, the crowd became uncontrollable, and slippers were thrown upon seeing Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandhana. Further investigation led us to the Dainik Jagran Patna edition, dated November 18, 2024. The report stated that Allu Arjun, accompanied by Rashmika Mandhana, attended the trailer launch of Pushpa-2 at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. The excitement among fans was overwhelming and shortly after hearing about the actor’s arrival, the crowd lost control. The audience broke the barricades at one place to get inside, forcing the police to use mild force to combat the situation. Vishvas News continued the investigation and contacted Rakesh Pandey, editorial in-charge of Dainik Jagran, Prayagraj. The viral post was shared with him, and he confirmed that the viral video is not from Prayagraj and no such incident occurred there. Concluding the investigation, we reviewed the Facebook account of the user Hari Narayan Shakya, who shared this video and we found that the user has over 14000 followers. Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the viral post is fake. The video, showing an uncontrolled crowd at the trailer launch of Pushpa 2 in Patna was falsely spread by linking it to Maha Kumbh.
