  • Fact Check: Sportscar swims through flooded Bengaluru street? This video is not even from India A video of a submerged supercar swimming through a flooded street went viral on social media with a claim that it was from Bengaluru. Listen to Story India Today Fact Check This video is neither from Bangalore nor from India at all. It has been on the internet since June and was shot in the US, likely in Miami, Florida. Heavy rains led to floods in several parts of Bengaluru recently. Photos and videos of waterlogged roads and flooded houses from the city have taken over social media. One such was a video of a submerged supercar swimming through a flooded street. Those sharing the video claimed it was from Bengaluru, and shared it with captions like, "All the unicorn millionaire startup founders in Bangalore right now." All the #unicorn #millionaire #startup founders in Bangalore right now. #bangalorefloods #bangalorerains #Bangalore #bangalorestartups #unicornstartups #founders pic.twitter.com/INc6V3usHd — Besharam ladka (@BesharamLadka) September 5, 2022 The same video has been shared widely on Facebook as well. The archived version of this video can be seen here. AFWA's investigation found that the video was not from Bangalore — or even India. AFWA Probe When we reverse-searched frames from the video, it led us to several articles published on automobile news websites. As these articles were published in June 2022, it became clear that it is in no way related to the recent Bengaluru floods that happened in the first week of September. The car seen in this video was a Chevrolet C8 Corvette. Per the reports, this video was reportedly shot in Miami, Florida. advertisement Was it shot in Florida? We spotted a man at the beginning of the video holding a green and black umbrella. When we ran a Google Lens search on the umbrella, it took us to a website featuring photos of similar-looking umbrellas. These umbrellas were a promotional product for TD Bank. We went through the official website of TD Bank or Toronto-Dominion Bank which operates in North America and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada. However, we weren't able to find any other markers to identify the location. So, while we were not able to pinpoint the exact place where the video was shot, we are more than certain that it was not in Bengaluru.
