The Claim A social media user posted a video on April 7, 2022, that claims, “3 TIMES ‘CONSPIRACY THEORISTS’ WERE RIGHT… 1. HUNTER BIDEN’S LAPTOP IS REAL. 2. BEE EL EMM WAS NOT CREATED TO HELP BLACK PEOPLE. 3. HEALTHY PEOPLE DON’T DIE FROM COVID.” Fact-Check Is it true that healthy people don’t die from COVID? No. COVID affects people of all ages, including healthy people as well. Even though the adults, especially young adults have a better immune response to it and are less likely to have a serious impact of the disease, it doesn’t nullify the chances of them having any complications, or worst-case scenario, death. A research article even clarifies by stating, “COVID-19 also has led to serious illness and even death in younger and middle-aged adults who are otherwise healthy. While most children have mild or no symptoms, some have gotten severely ill. As with adults, even if children have no symptoms, they can spread the virus to others.” Also, it is important to know that it is not possible to determine whether a person was perfectly healthy or not before his/her death. There are various diseases that do not show a direct symptom but were still present. Certain underlying disorders show symptoms only when their progression is at an advanced stage. As stated by the CDC, there are recorded deaths among all age groups, the claim is false. Also, the World Health Organization (WHO) in the year 2020 officially declared COVID-19 a pandemic. This evidence is enough to confirm COVID is real and its impact on public health worldwide.
