Fact Check: In a Nov. 19 tweet, Cardona said individuals seeking student loan debt forgiveness through the federal government would begin receiving updates on their applications, CNBC reported. The tweet follows an injunction from the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals blocking President Joe Biden’s executive order aimed at removing student loan debt, according to Fox Business. The Facebook post purports Cardona was arrested by U.S. Marines on charges of treason and child endangerment at his Connecticut home on Thanksgiving Day 2022. The post further claims the U.S. Army Cyber Command obtained letters Cardona allegedly sent to multiple school districts encouraging them to hire non-binary teachers and teach children about gender reassignment surgery, which has prompted a JAG investigation. The claim is false. There are no credible news reports suggesting Cardona was arrested by U.S. Marines on charges of treason and child endangerment. Neither the Marines nor the Army has mentioned the claim via their verified social media accounts or respective websites. Likewise, Cardona has not publicly commented on the purported claim.
