| - A screenshot from an article purportedly by The Times of India is being shared on social media.
The article's headline stated, "WATCH: South Korean YouTuber, who was harassed in Mumbai, encounters two ‘Indian heroes’ that save her but ultimately ends up being raped by them.”
Those sharing this screenshot claimed that two Indian men rescued the YouTuber from a harasser but later went on to sexually assault her.
What we found: We ran a keyword search using the words in the headline. However, did not come across any such report.
We also did not find any reporting which stated that Hyojeong Park alias Mhyochi, the YouTuber, was sexually assaulted by the two men who helped save them when she was harassed on the streets in Mumbai.
We then did a Google reverse image search on the screenshot and found a report by Mirror Now from 2 December 2022, which shared a similar headline.
We, then, came across a post by the YouTuber on her official X account from December 2022.
They wrote, "Lunch with two Indian gentlemen who help me to post the video and save me on the street. Aditya & Atharva." (sic.)
What happened to Mhyochi?: Two men harrased the YouTuber on the streets of Mumbai while she was livestreaming on her social media in 2022. The city police had arrested the two for molestation, reported BBC.
Conclusion: An altered screenshot has gone viral to falsely claim that a South Korean YouTuber was raped by two men who helped her when she was harassed on the streets.
