  • Last Updated on February 9, 2023 by Dr. Saumya Saluja Quick Take A Facebook post claims that teeth can be safely whitened using an at-home teeth whitening product. After performing a fact-check, we determined that the claim is False. The Claim According to a Facebook post, using a teeth-whitening pen is the most cost-effective and quick way to achieve a pearly smile. The article also claims that it is a secure and efficient at-home tooth-whitening device. Fact Check Can one whiten their teeth with a product like a tooth whitening brush? No, it is essential to emphasize that there are legitimate concerns about the post’s factual accuracy. It appears that the article is endorsing a take-home tooth-whitening product. When we searched for the product using Google Reverse Image, we learned that tooth whitening brushes are easily accessible at various online sales platforms. Please be aware that these websites simply endorse the product; they do not provide information about the active ingredients and usage frequency of the tooth whitening pen. Additionally, even at the dentist’s office, teeth cannot be completely whitened. This ultimately calls into question the teeth whitening pen’s efficacy in comparison to professional cleanings. Furthermore, there is no mention of any safety measures, adverse effects, or other contraindications. Most importantly, there is no authorized seal of approval on the product. This casts doubt on the product’s potency and safety. In light of this, we deduce that the post and the product are both deceptive. A screenshot of the product that is being suggested can be found below. It should be mentioned that we have previously revealed online deceptive products, such as an ultrasonic body sculpting clip for weight loss. Can you safely whiten your teeth at home? Yes, but just up to a point. In general, at-home whitening products are gentler. There are lots of medications that can be taken at home. These primarily consist of mouthwash, gel, and toothpaste. These at home teeth-whitening products, however, have an abrasive quality. It should be acknowledged that these might erode the enamel that covers your teeth. Additionally, this might harm the gums, affect the digestive system, and possibly increase tooth sensitivity. Therefore, continued use is not advised. Always speak with your dentist to learn how to use abrasive whitening products safely. What at-home preventative measures can be taken for tooth stains? Please be aware that only external stains can be avoided, whereas internal stains affect the internal structure of the teeth and are therefore challenging to prevent. Since lifestyle choices are the main cause of external stains, therefore, tooth discoloration can always be avoided by eating a high-fiber diet, drinking lots of water, and brushing and flossing on a regular basis. Avoiding smoking, consuming acidic juices and beverages, and limiting the consumption of foods and beverages that can stain teeth, such as cola, coffee, and red wine, are additional preventive measures. THIP MEDIA TAKE: We come to the conclusion that it is unwise to trust the teeth-whitening pen recommended in the post. This is due to the lack of information regarding the product’s ingredients, side effects, restrictions, and the recommended duration of therapy. Most importantly, there is no official seal of approval on the product. The potential harm from such products may outweigh their benefits, so the assertion is false.
