| - Fact Check: Did Ambanis watch 'Pathaan' with SRK? No, this image is 7 years old
A selfie of Shah Rukh Khan and the Ambani family has gone viral on social media, with the claim that Khan took the photo while they were watching "Pathaan" together.

This photo is more than seven years old and was shot during the Reliance Jio 4G launch event in December 2015.
Despite boycotts and outrage on social media, Shah Rukh Khan's “Pathaan” made a grand opening at the box office on January 25. Following this, several Facebook and Twitter users have shared a photograph of Khan taking a selfie with the Ambani family.
While sharing this photo, many claimed that Khan clicked this selfie with the Ambani family as they watched “Pathaan” together. Apart from Mukesh, Nita, Akash, Anant, and Isha Ambani, music maestro AR Rahman could also be seen in the frame.
One such tweet read, "You guys keep boycotting outside theatres. Meanwhile, the Ambanis are watching ‘Pathaan’ with Shah Rukh." An archived version of this post can be seen here.
AFWA's probe found that the image is more than seven years old and not related to Pathaan at all.

With the help of a reverse image search, we were able to find the same photo in a Rediff business news report. Published on May 5, 2016, this report immediately confirmed that the viral image was old and had no connection with the ongoing events.
Rediff credited the photo to the Press Trust of India and mentioned that it was shot during the Reliance Jio 4G launch event.
Taking a clue from this caption, we searched further using relevant keywords and came across the same image in a photo gallery published by the Financial Express on December 28, 2015. This gallery, titled, “Reliance Jio 4G launched: Mukesh Ambani speech highlights in 5 points,” not only featured the viral image but also carried other photos from the launch event.
The Twitter account of Hindustan Times City also tweeted the selfie that Khan shot on December 28, 2015.
When we searched for keywords related to Ambani and “Pathaan”, a Times of India report published on January 19 noted that Khan and his wife Gauri Khan attended the wedding ceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
We weren't able to find any credible media reports that mentioned the Ambanis watching “Pathaan”. So, we spoke to a Reliance spokesperson, who told AFWA that there was no update on Khan watching the movie with the Ambani family.
Thus, it is more than evident that a seven-year-old image was shared to in a false context.
