Users are sharing the image believing it to be taken by a French tourist near Gokarna, Karnataka. Vishvas News conducted an investigation and found that this image is AI-generated. What’s Going Viral? A Facebook user named Rajanna Koravi shared the viral photo with the caption, “A photo taken by a French tourist near Gokarna (Karnataka). Friends, what is your opinion?” You can view the archived post here. Investigation: Vishvas News conducted a Google reverse image search and found this same picture in news reports on news websites like livemint.com and Hindustan Times. According to the reports, this image was created by Madhav Kohli using AI tools and was posted on the microblogging site ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). Madhav Kohli’s profile identifies him as an artist who has shared numerous AI-generated images on his account. We found the same image on Madhav Kohli’s ‘X’ account, where he confirmed in a reply to a comment that he had generated it using the AI tool Stable Diffusion. Stable Diffusion is an AI tool that generates images based on input prompts. In simple terms, it creates images based on the input provided. We also consulted AI expert Dr Azhar Machwe, who confirmed that the image is indeed AI-generated. He pointed out that there are noticeable gaps between the leaves, which have been utilised to create the profile of PM Narendra Modi. Finally, we examined the account of the user who shared the image with the false claim and found that he has more than 4,000 followers.
