Can grapes cure kidney disease and cancer?
It does not seem so. No scientific evidence confirms eating grapes can cure kidney disease and cancer. A few research papers have shown that grapes contain antioxidants that can prevent or slow down the progression of the disease. However, the sample size of these papers is small, limited, and mostly done on animals in a controlled environment. As of now, the ability of grapes to kill kidney disease and cancer is inconclusive. It is difficult to say whether a diet heavy on grapes will ensure good health.
Why grapes are considered to have a cure for kidney diseases and cancer?
Grapes are rich in phenolic acids, stilbenes, anthocyanins, and proanthocyanidins. These antioxidants have shown promising results in laboratory studies. Researchers are trying to understand whether these antioxidants can be used to treat kidney diseases and cancer. However, a conclusive outcome has yet to be achieved so far.
A False post claimed that grapes can prove to be fatal if eaten after medicines.

Same has been confirmed by Dr Sarthak Moharir, Oncologist at HCG Cancer Centre in Vadodara, Gujarat. He said ‘There is no evidence to prove that grapes or products derived from grapes can cure any type of cancer. Special diet or diet modifications do not cure cancer. Diet is very important for patients undergoing cancer treatment and it is advised they take a balanced meal with all macros and micronutrients as prescribed by their dietary counsellor’.
What can be the dangers of trying to cure kidney diseases and cancer through home remedies and not seeking medical advice?
Cancer and kidney failure are complicated diseases that require more than grapes for treatment. Relying solely on home remedies and not seeking proper medical treatment can worsen the condition to make kidney diseases and cancer incurable. Besides this, eating too many grapes can have side effects. Research published in 1999 shows grapes can cause allergic reactions to induce shock.
Another false social media post claims that kidney disease can be treated using the essential oil of the croton plant.
