  • A video of a massive fire engulfing vehicles parked on the streets is going viral on social media platforms as recent visuals from the ongoing 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela. What did its caption say?: Those sharing the clip have said, "Breaking! Another Major Fire Breakout at Mahakumbh Bustand. Something has got to be seriously wrong this time!! FEAR THE WRATH OF GODS." Is the claim true?: No, neither is the clip recent nor is to related to India. The original one dates back to July 2020 and shows a massive fire breaking out in Cairo, Egypt. What led us to the truth?: While conducting a simple Google Lens search, we came across the same visuals uploaded to an Instagram handle called 'aymanmatnews'. The clip was shared on 14 July 2020, and its caption said, "Egypt: Massive fire on the Cairo - Ismailia highway...#Egypt: A fire occurred at a petroleum material pipeline on the Ismailia Desert Road in Cairo, nearly 15 fire engines managed to control the fire, At least 12 people were injured, according to the country's health ministry." Other sources: Taking this forward, we looked for video reports on YouTube and found the same visuals on the official channel of Global News. The report was published on 15 July 2020, and it was titled, "Cars set ablaze after massive fire breaks out along pipeline in Egypt." A second wind?: Team WebQoof had previously debunked the same clip, when it was viral in 2024, claiming that it showed recent visuals from Egypt. You can read our old fact-check here. Conclusion: Evidently, the video is old and has no connection to Maha Kumbh Mela or India. (Not convinced of a post or information you came across online and want it verified?
