A video of Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma getting off a plane is being shared with users linking it to the ongoing 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, which is being held in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
What have users claimed?: Those sharing the video have posted it with a caption that said "Rohit Sharma welcome to Pakistan..."
What's the truth?: The video could be traced back to October 2024 and has no connection with the ongoing cricket tournament. This makes the claim false.
How did we find that out?: On performing the reverse image search using the help of Google Lens, we found similar visuals posted on an X (formerly Twitter) handle.
It was published on 3 October 2024 and its caption said, "The grand welcome of boss Rohit Sharma at Rashin Maharashtra."
Other sources: Team WebQoof conducted a keyword search and found visuals on an unverified YouTube channel that showed Sharma wearing the same attire and meeting the same people as seen in the viral photo.
The video was shared on 3 October 2024 and its title, too, identified the location as Rashin in Maharashtra.
News reports of Sharma visiting Rashin: A report published by Times of India said that the Indian captain had visited Maharashtra's Rashin to lay foundation stone for a news sports complex.
At the event, he spoke about how winning the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup tournament transformed his life.
Conclusion: The claim is false as this video does not show Rohit Sharma arriving in Pakistan.
