  • On Oct. 30, 2024, the progressive Vote Blue Network YouTube channel posted a video (archived) displaying a title that claimed medical doctors confirmed former U.S. President Donald Trump had a stroke. According to the title, "Doctors CONFIRM Trump Has STROKE ON GARBAGE TRUCK," Trump experienced a stroke while climbing onto or riding inside a garbage truck earlier the same day. The clip received around 100,000 views in less than 24 hours. The video featured a thumbnail image showing the former president wearing an orange vest while gesturing to cameras. We previously fact-checked that photo as authentic. However, we uncovered no evidence of doctors claiming, much less "confirming," that Trump had experienced a stroke just days before the U.S. Election Day. Further, the YouTube channel and one of its onscreen hosts who identifies himself as Christo Availis have a history of promoting made-up claims. That complete lack of evidence and the channel's untrustworthy track record led us to our conclusion that the claim is false. For example, the Vote Blue Network YouTube channel previously uploaded false video titles featuring clips of news broadcasts and onscreen appearances by Availis, including "Trսmp РООРЅ НІМЅЕLF Lіvе оn ЅТАGЕ, СRОWD RЕАСТЅ ІΝ НОRRОR" and "Trսmр FАІΝТЅ Durіng Ѕреесh, Аudіеnсе RЕАСТЅ ІΝ НОRRОR." We've reported about other misleading videos promoted by Availis, in which he falsely claimed a Fox News host interrupted Trump to call him a crude name, for example, and that violent protesters stormed a courtroom during one of the former president's trials. Trump's Garbage Truck Photo Op Hours before the Vote Blue Network channel published the video falsely claiming Trump had a stroke on a garbage truck, the former president and his campaign staffers landed at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Trump emerged from the Trump-branded aircraft wearing an orange vest. Moments later, he walked over to climb into the passenger side of a garbage truck. Upon approaching the truck's door, a video showed Trump failing to grasp the handle at least two times — a failure reported by The Associated Press. That moment of Trump walking over to the door and failing to grab the handle led several users on X — including the progressive MeidasTouch network — to posit that the former president had previously experienced one or more strokes. None of the accounts offered credible evidence. The point of Trump's vest and the garbage truck was to draw attention to a recent remark from President Joe Biden, who purportedly called Trump's supporters "garbage."
