  • FACT CHECK: Is This A Recent Image Of the Georgia Senators? A post shared on social media purportedly shows Georgia Senators Democrats Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff are still wearing masks in the Capitol building. Verdict: False The claim is inaccurate. The image is from 2021. Fact Check: 19 Congress members have called for answers from Secretary of State Antony Blinken for providing arms sales to Israel without congressional approval, CNN News reported. The two emergency transfers were issued and for multi-million-dollar weapons to be provided to Israel. A post shared on Facebook purports Warnock and Ossoff are still wearing masks that were mandatory during the COVID-19 pandemic. The post shares a screenshot an X post that shows the two senators standing side-by-side in the Capitol wearing face masks. The caption in the screenshot reads, “Georgia’s two Democratic senators are still wearing masks. Today, In 2024. Beyond embarrassing.” The claim is inaccurate. The image dates back to 2021 when, Ossoff tweeted the image. Ossoff did share the image again recently on twitter with the caption, “3 years of delivering for Georgia.” (Did Times Square Billboards Call Ceasefire Anti-Semitic?) Change has come to Georgia. Change is coming to America. pic.twitter.com/m8CLAbkPPp — Jon Ossoff (@ossoff) January 20, 2021 Mask mandates were dropped at the Capitol in Feb. 2022 ahead of Biden’s State of the Union address. ABC News reported at the time that members of Congress would no longer have to wear masks in the building. Ossoff was a supporter of mask wearing in 2021 and encouraged people to wear masks during the delta variant surge. He wrote on Twitter, “But with Delta surging we must stay disciplined in crowded/public indoor settings. It’s not about you. It’s about others our carelessness can put at risk.” I know sometimes it’s easier to go with the flow when others around you aren’t wearing masks. I’ve done it too. But with Delta surging we must stay disciplined in crowded/public indoor settings. It’s not about you. It’s about others our carelessness can put at risk. — Jon Ossoff (@ossoff) August 19, 2021 This is not the first time misinformation was shared online. Check Your Fact debunked a claim Saudi Arabia and Qatar supported strikes on Houthis.
