Several Facebook users have claimed that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is converting to Islam from Christianity. Facebook page "UKIP Warwick and Leamington" has posted an article from a website called Vatican Enquirer which claimed that Trudeau explained his decision in a press conference. The archive version of the post can be seen here. India Today’s Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) has found the claim to be false. Trudeau is not converting to Islam. The reference article is three years old and taken from a satirical website. Several Facebook pages such as No sharia law - Never ever give up Australia and United Muslims have shared the article. The post is also available on Twitter. Most social media users who shared this claim have referred to an article called Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Converting from Christianity to Islam, published on the Vatican Enquirer website three years ago. According to the article, Trudeau explained that he decided to convert to Islam from Christianity after meeting thousands of Syrian refugees and listening to their stories. The Vatican Enquirer attributed Trudeau’s quote to a website called TheGlobalSun.com. But we found that the URL link toTheGlobalSun.com The article used some pictures of Trudeau praying and having food along with Muslim devotees. Canadian news network CTV news The other photos appeared to be from an event at a mosque in Surrey, Canada, it said. The Vatican Enquirer, in its disclaimer section, has declared itself a satirical website, saying, All content is fictional and does not correspond to reality. Thus we can conclude that the article published in the Vatican Enquirer about Trudeau converting to Islam is purely fictional and far from facts.
