  • FACT CHECK: Is This A Recent Photo Of Sarah Huckabee Sanders? A post shared on Twitter purports to show a recent photo of Arkansas Republican Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders sitting barefoot and cross-legged on a chair during a public event. This is a recent photo of the Governor of @Arkansasgov. Go… pic.twitter.com/2W1S0HFbhp — @hcraigblue (@HCraigBlue) March 7, 2023 Verdict: False The photo is digitally altered. The original photo shows Huckabee Sanders wearing high heels and sitting upright. Fact Check: Huckabee Sanders signed the LEARNS Act into law Wednesday, which promotes school choice and bans teaching on Critical Race Theory, among other measures, according to ABC News. The bill was introduced Feb. 8 before it “moved quickly through the [state] legislature,” local news outlet KARK reported. The Twitter post, viewed over 2,000 times, purports to show a recent photo of Huckabee Sanders sitting barefoot and cross-legged on a chair during a public event. “This is a recent photo of the Governor of @Arkansasgov. Go…,” the post’s caption reads. The claim is false. There are no credible news reports suggesting Huckabee Sanders has ever sat barefoot and cross-legged on a chair during a public event. Likewise, the claim is neither mentioned on the governor’s website nor on her verified social media accounts. The photo is digitally altered. In the original photo, which was shared with Getty Images in 2019, Huckabee Sanders is wearing high heels and sitting upright. “Sarah Huckabee Sanders speaks onstage during day 2 of Politicon 2019 at Music City Center on October 27, 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee,” the image’s caption indicates. A cropped version of the photo also appeared in a December 2019 article from the New York Post detailing how Huckabee Sanders was considering running for governor of Arkansas at the time. (RELATED: Did Sarah Huckabee Sanders Say If America Is Invaded, ‘Democrats Will Join The Enemy?’) Alexa Henning, Huckabee Sanders’ communications director, told Reuters the image was doctored. This is not the first time Huckabee Sanders has been the subject of misinformation. Check Your Fact previously debunked a claim from June 2021 stating that Democrats would “join the enemy” if America were to be invaded.
