| - A TikTok user named Susanna Now (@suzanna_now) created both videos. The videos were titled "Florida voter regrets voting for Trump" and "North Carolina Republicans regret voting for Trump." She also created similar, though less popular, videos in which she portrayed voters regretting their votes in Kentucky, South Carolina and South Dakota. Now's bio displays the word "SATIRE" in all-capital letters. Some users not realizing she produces satirical content stitched her videos, displaying their reactions either superimposed over her or after showing part of her clips.
In January and February 2025, online users shared several videos claiming to depict a female voter from Florida, North Carolina or other U.S. states, expressing regret for voting for U.S. President Donald Trump. The clips showed the voter speaking in front of a brick wall with flowers.
One clip titled "Florida voter regrets voting for Trump" showed a woman speaking regretfully about her Trump vote in front of the wall and flowers. Users on Instagram, Reddit, Threads and TikTok either reposted her video or posted their own videos reacting to the clip. One TikTok video showing a man's reaction, superimposed over the woman's clip, received over 2.1 million views.
Another video captioned as "North Carolina Republicans regret voting for Trump" also showed the same woman speaking in front of the wall and flowers. Users on Facebook, Instagram and those on X reposted the same video.
While it's possible voters might experience regret for their vote for any politician in any past election, the truth was these specific videos originated as satire.
TikTok user Susanna Now (@suzanna_now) created these clips. Her bio displayed the label "SATIRE" in all capital letters. She also created similar satirical videos portraying voters regretting Trump votes in Kentucky, South Carolina and South Dakota, among others, though the clips involving Florida and North Carolina by far received the most views, likes and comments.
By email, she told Snopes, "I just take what's happening in the political world and create a character. Some people get that it's satire and get a good laugh, but it seems like a lot of people don't get that it is not real."
The TikTok videos and 'FAFO'
Susanna Now's TikTok video (archived) depicting a North Carolina voter displayed over 1.8 million views. Those views existed in addition to other users' aforementioned reposts.
Meanwhile, her clip (archived) about the Florida voter received nearly 1 million views.
Some of the most-liked comments under her videos showed users who missed the satire label in her bio. Quite a few users mentioned the acronym "FAFO," which stands for "f*** around and find out." For example, one user said, "FAFO. Why would anyone vote for someone who spreads hate and division?"
Other commenters who believed she genuinely existed as a Trump supporter regretting her vote mentioned "karma," thanked her for her "honesty" and generally spoke negatively of Trump voters. The most-liked comment under either of the two videos received nearly 30,000 likes, and read, "Y'all put money over morals. What did you expect?" Another user with tens of thousands of likes for their comment remarked, "Enjoy the 4 years of lies."
