He and his brother are still detained as of Jan. 6, 2023. Fact Check: Twitter CEO Elon Musk made a jab at Andrew Tate following an online argument between Tate and climate activist Greta Thunberg, according to the New York Post. Musk made the joke after unsubstantiated claims surfaced the controversial internet personality had been tracked through a box of pizza featured in one of his videos, the outlet reported. The Facebook video purports the Tate brothers were allegedly released from jail following their Dec. 29 arrest. “Tate brothers were released without being charged,” the video’s caption reads. The claim is false. The video stems from an April 2022 article published by the Romanian website, Digi24. In the video, the brothers could be seen leaving the DIICOT. The article indicates Andrew and Tristan Tate were brought in for questioning after two women in Voluntari alleged the brothers were forcibly holding them there. Despite being questioned by the DIICOT, the brothers were ultimately released. Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested on Dec. 29 in Bucharest on “suspicion of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group,” according to Reuters. The brothers remain in custody with a Romanian court voting to extend their detention by 30 days on Dec. 30, the outlet reported. (RELATED: Did The Former Twitter CEO Get Arrested For Child Porn?) There are no credible news reports suggesting the Tate brothers have been released from jail following their recent arrest or will be freed soon. Likewise, the claim is not mentioned on the DIICOT’s website. In addition, Andrew Tate has not publicly commented on the claim.
