Old video shared as recent India Today found that this video of Ranveer Allahbadia is not recent but from 2021, when he tested positive for COVID-19. Listen to Story Famous YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, aka “BeerBiceps” is facing backlash and legal action over his obscene remark in a standup comedy show called “India's Got Latent”. The remark sparked widespread outrage, following which FIR was lodged against Ranveer Allahbadia, famous YouTuber Samay Raina, and influencer Apoorva Makhija among several others who attended the show. Amid this, a video of Ranveer Allahbadia sobbing and saying that he feels guilty, is going viral on social media. In the video, Allahbadia says, “I am feeling bad because all the work has been stopped because of me. I just feel damn guilty. The entire team was exposed to this...”. He can also be seen using abusive language in the video. Many on social media claimed that this was a recent video of Allahbadia, made by him after the controversy erupted. The video is viral on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube with the same claim. The archive of one such post can be seen here. India Today found that this video of Ranveer Allahbadia is not recent but from 2021, when he tested positive for COVID-19. OUR PROBE A keyword search led us to a YouTube video of Ranveer Allahbadia, uploaded on his YouTube channel on April 7, 2021. The video is titled as “This Is NOT Clickbait - My Covid-19 Experience | Vlog 24”. The portion going viral can be seen after 30 seconds in the video. Here, Allahbadia tells his viewers how he had tested positive for COVID-19 and has to quarantine himself for 14 days, hampering his daily workflow. The eight-minute-long video also shows his team talking about the work they are doing in the absence of Allahbadia. Thus, it is clear that the viral clip is almost four years old and has nothing to do with the recent controversy. However, after the backlash on social media, Allahbadia released a video apologising for his obscene remark in the show.
