  • FACT CHECK: Does This Video Show ‘Hundreds’ Of Russian Submarines Being Sunk In Ukraine? A video shared on Facebook allegedly shows “hundreds” of Russian submarines being sunk by Ukrainian forces. Verdict: False The footage is from a military-based simulation game. Fact Check: The Russians withdrew from the left bank of the Dnipro River, including Kherson city, in early November, according to CNBC. Ukrainska Pravda reported that the Russian Navy has 12 ships in the Black Sea, citing the Ukrainian Navy. The Facebook video, viewed more than 61,000 times, claims that Ukraine sunk “hundreds” of Russian submarines. The video’s caption reads, “Hundreds of Russian Submarines were SUNK in the Black Sea in the Battles for Kherson!” This claim, though, is false. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found the video was posted to YouTube Nov. 10 with the same title. The Facebook video shows footage from ARMA 3, a simulation-based video game published by Bohemia Interactive. (RELATED: Does This Photo Show A Gepard Tank Firing At The Sky In Ukraine?) “All videos on this channel are Arma 3 game simulation! They do not reflect reality and are the product of the author’s imagination! This channel is not for propaganda purposes!” reads the video’s description. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has claimed to have destroyed 16 Russian naval vessels. This number has remained unchanged since Nov. 2. “Honor has not to be won; it must only not be lost.” Arthur Schopenhauer Total combat losses of the enemy from Feb 24 to Nov 29: pic.twitter.com/D0zLXigTrN — Defense of Ukraine (@DefenceU) November 29, 2022 Misinformation around the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is not new. Check Your Fact recently debunked a video claiming that Ukraine destroyed “dozens” of Russian warships.
