  • FACT CHECK: Claim That US Navy JAG Allegedly Hanged Tanya Skeen Is Satire A post shared on Facebook claims the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps purportedly hanged Assistant Secretary of Defense for Acquisition Tanya Skeen. Verdict: False The claim is false and stems from a Feb. 3 article published on the satire site “Real Raw News.” A spokesperson for Navy JAG denied the claim’s validity in an email to Check Your Fact. Fact Check: Skeen became the Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Development at CACI International Inc. back in November 2023, according to a press release from Business Wire. She also serves as the Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, the same release indicates. The Facebook post claims Navy JAG purportedly hanged Skeen. The post does not provide a source to support its claim. The claim is false and stems from a Feb. 3 article published on the satire site “Real Raw News.” A “Disclaimer” included on the site’s “About Us” page indicates its content is not meant to be taken literally. “Information on this website is for informational and educational and entertainment purposes. This website contains humor, parody, and satire. We have included this disclaimer for our protection, on the advice on legal counsel,” the disclaimer reads. According to the Feb. 3 Real Raw News article, U.S. Marines allegedly arrested Skeen on Dec. 16 in Charlottesville, Virginia, “based on evidence she had surreptitiously wired $35 million to [Ukrainian President] Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s personal bank account.” Navy JAG then supposedly indicted her for treason, and she was purportedly held at Guantanamo Bay until her tribunal, where she was allegedly found guilty and hanged, the same article claims. Likewise, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports indicating Navy JAG had purportedly hanged Skeen. In fact, the opposite is true. Lead Stories also labeled the claim as false in a Feb. 7 article. (RELATED: Facebook Post Falsely Claims U.S. Navy Seals Killed An Intruder At Mar-A-Lago) Furthermore, Navy JAG has not referenced the purported claim on its website or social media accounts. Patricia Babb, a spokesperson for Navy JAG, denied the claim’s validity in an email to Check Your Fact. “This is not true,” Babb said of the claim.
