Then, we took out key frames using InVid tool and checked them on Google Reverse Image Search. The results showed that it was a 9-year-old video of a train accident that took place on June 25, 2015 in Mumbai. The same was covered by the news outlet Indian Express here: Watch the video here Another video uploaded in Facebook can be seen here: The incident was also reported in Hindustan times. A Mumbai local train crashed into the dead end at the Mumbai’s Churchgate Station at about 11.20 AM, as the driver failed to stop the train. As per the reports, few persons were injured and the suburban trains of the city were disrupted briefly. Western Railway had launched an enquiry and suspended three staff members. Railway senior official was quoted to have said, “Had the hydraulic buffer not positioned in the front part of the local train, the impact could have been disastrous as the train was speeding.” Secondly, further search revealed that the Press Information Bureau has also debunked the recent tweet claiming another accident. ▶️ कृपया ऐसे भ्रामक वीडियो को आगे साझा न करें! pic.twitter.com/ucjGVCaNOh — PIB Fact Check (@PIBFactCheck) July 23, 2024 Hence, the claim that the accident was recent one in Mumbai is false. Claim: Video shows local train derailing at a railway station in Mumbai. Conclusion: The claim is false. Nine-year-old video shared as recent accident in Mumbai. Rating: Misleading —
