  • Fact Check: Modi did not click pictures with camera lens cap closed image of Modi clicking the camera with the cap of the lens closed began doing rounds on the social media and the users making fun of him. Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked his 72nd birthday on September 17, 2022 (Saturday) by releasing cheetahs brought from Namibia into a special enclosure at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. After releasing the cheetahs, the PM was seen clicking pictures of the big cats with a DSLR camera. Meanwhile, an image of Modi clicking the camera with the cap of the lens closed began doing rounds on the social media and the users making fun of him. It was shared with a caption: "There is only one man in the world, Modi ji, who can use this locked camera and take pictures as well." https://twitter.com/Dr_ Different captions were given by the internet users sarcastically. Several leaders of the opposition parties also shared the same image and made fun of the PM. Fact check: The claim that Modi was clicking pictures with the camera lens cap closed is FALSE. Firstly, in the image, we can observe that the camera used is Nikon and the lid is of Canon make. When we searched the viral image using Google reverse image search along with keywords "Modi releasing cheetahs", we found images shared by various news publications. Here is an image shared by PIB India's Instagram account. We also found a tweet by All India Radio, which shared Modi clicking the pictures of cheetahs. The image clearly shows the camera lens lid open. A news article published by Social News XYZ also carries the same image, which clearly shows that the viral image has been morphed and shared with a false claim. Compare the viral and the original image. The viral image is a morphed one and Modi did not take the pictures of cheetahs with the camera lens cap closed.
