  • Fact Check: Video showing rigorous exercises underwater is not relating to Indian Navy but from USA The Indian Navy is the maritime branch of the Indian Armed Forces. The primary objective of the navy is to safeguard the nation’s maritime borders. Claim :Video shows rigorous exercises underwater in the Indian Navy Fact :The video does not show Indian Navy training. It shows the training of an organisation named Deep end Fitness in USA The Indian Navy is the maritime branch of the Indian Armed Forces. The primary objective of the navy is to safeguard the nation’s maritime borders. The Indian Navy has enhanced aerial surveillance and increased force levels in the central-north Arabian Sea after the region saw attacks on merchant ships. Meanwhile, a video of a few young men doing rigorous swimming exercises underwater is being shared on social media with the claim that it shows exercises done by Indian Navy soldiers. In the video, we can see the hands and legs of the persons tied up and they are trying to pick goggles with the help of their mouth. This video is shared with the caption “Indian Navy Training” Fact Check: The claim is False. The video does not show Indian Navy training. Firstly, when we searched for videos and images related to the Indian Navy, we found the Facebook page of the Indian Navy that shared several media posts relating to the Navy but could not find any video like the one going viral. After extracting the key frames from the video, we searched them using Google reverse image search and found a few videos shared on social media. A video titled “Crazy Underwater Military Training (@deependfitness)” is shared on YouTube by a channel named Dan Curl. And an Instagram user named House of Highlights gives credit to @deependfitness. Taking the cue, when we searched the Instagram handle of Deep End Fitness, we found the viral video shared by them on May 29, 2023. They shared the video with the caption ““As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them.” -JFK Happy Memorial Day Weekend. Live up to their sacrifice. We found several similar videos on the YouTube channel as well as a Facebook page of the organization. The organization trains individuals to reach their potential in and out of water with hybrid water training. It is a low-impact fitness programme created by US Military Special operators, backed by science, proven to boost mental resilience. On the website of Deep End Fitness, we found that it is centered on the practice of movement, breath work, and the strengthening of one’s mind to optimize human performance in and out of the water. Our program incorporates techniques and methodology developed in elite human performance training, research-backed science, and most importantly real-life experience training thousands of people over the past 10 years. Hence, the viral video does not show the training of soldiers in the Indian Navy. It was shared by a fitness organization named Deep End Fitness in the USA. It is not related to the Indian Navy. The claim is False.
