It is a doctored video. The original video featured two men slapping each other. The robot was digitally added over one of the contestants using an AI tool.
A robot was seen flooring a man with a hammering slap in a shocking video going viral on social media right now. The brutal attack was followed by the robot flexing its strength as guards kept it away from the man, who lay on the ground, visibly winded. Allegedly, this was a slap battle that unfolded during “Power Slap”, an American reality show created by Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White.
Many, in response to tweets containing this video, criticised the idea of letting “a machine with no feelings or biological components” enter the games. Archived versions of such posts can be found here and here.
India Today, in its investigation, found that the video was doctored. The original video showed two men slapping each other. One of them was digitally replaced by a robot.

A keyword search for this video led us to a report by The Sun dated May 30. According to it, the viral clip of a Power Slap fighter being slapped by a robot was a “parody” video. Apart from this, the report also carried a picture of the real slap, in which a man could be seen standing opposite another man - and not a robot. Other reports also stated that the robot was added using visual effects and AI.
In the video, we observed the logo of “EspacioNX”. We found that it’s a YouTube channel that shares sports video game clips. The viral video was shared by this channel on May 11 titled: “A parody of what if Dana White's Power Slap league added a robot as a competitor in the future”. Following its virality, the channel also shared a side-by-side comparison between the viral video and the original video from Power Slap.
In the comparison video, a man in a blue t-shirt could be seen performing the exact same actions as the robot in the viral video. The voiceover in it mentioned that the parody video with the robot was made using Wonder Dynamics, an AI tool that “automatically animates, lights and composes CG characters into a live-action scene”.
On the Instagram page of Power Slap, we found the original video shared on May 20. The post tagged Vernon Cathey and AyJay Hintz - the two men between whom this match was held.
Thus, it’s clear that this was not a contest between a man and a robot.
