These posts carry sensational headlines about Ghoshal along with fake website links.
These images also carry logos of news publications like The Indian Express and Times Now.
Headlines that these images carried often included that something will bring an end to her career.
What's the truth?: These images with sensational headlines carry fake news.
They carry links to phishing websites and fake interviews.
Most of these images are also altered.
Let's examine these pieces: First, we performed relevant keyword search to find similar articles shared by Times Now and The Indian Express.
However, we find not find any such reports about Ghoshal ending her career or revealing something that would put her in trouble.
In fact, we found a report from 7 December 2023 shared by The Indian Express which specified how fraudulent links are being linked to their publication.
The report stated that these fake web pages are designed to look identical to the publication's original website however, they carry suspicious URLs.
The report mentions examples linked to Mukesh Ambani and NR Narayana Murthy. Now, similar fake images linking Ghoshal are going viral.
Ghoshal's X account hacked: We did not find any such news on Ghoshal's official Instagram account that would support these claims.
We did, however, find a post from 1 March where Ghoshal mentioned that her X account has been hacked since 13 February.
She writes, "Please don’t click on any link or believe any message written from that account. They are all spams and fishing links." (sic)
Beware of phishing links and fake interviews: We tried visiting these links included in the viral posts and ads, however, some of them were not active anymore.
Some links redirects the user to 'Immediate Fastx', an AI trading assistant platform.
Another link carried a fake interview of Ghoshal and credited it to Mirchi Plus.
Upon further research, we found a recent interview of Ghoshal on Mirchi Plus’ official YouTube channel, however, she made no such statements about confidential financial information, as claimed in the fake news website.
Other fraudulent websites included: innews.fixedsight.mom, newsheadline.news, naivezonalanother.life, pixajotexu.org, worudaholo.org, keepkelpstepped.shop --none of them are news websites.
