The text of the viral image reads, ‘Hey friends, there’s sad news. Doctor Vandana Tiwari is no more. We found that several users shared the viral image on Facebook and Twitter. Several readers sent the viral video to Newschecker’s WhatsApp helpline number for verification. With the help of relevant keywords search, we found several media reports about the incident. According to the media reports, Dr. Vandana Tiwari was working as a pharmacist at the Government Medical College in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. Also, she was the caretaker of the girl’s hostel at the Medical College. On 31 March, her health deteriorated and she was referred to Birla Hospital in Gwalior on 1 April where she died. According to the reports, Dr. Tiwari’s cause of death was a brain hemorrhage. There was nowhere mentioned in any of the media reports that she was sent to Uttar Pradesh to screen COVID-19 suspected patients. During our search, we came across the fact-checking handle of Uttar Pradesh Police. UP Police issued a clarification on Twitter and said that the matter pertains to Madhya Pradesh. No such incident has happened in Uttar Pradesh. During our search, we also found a Tweet by the Madhya Pradesh government Public Relations department. They issued a statement given by the chief medical and health officer’s office, Shivpuri mentioning that Dr. Vandana Tiwari was admitted to hospital as she was diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage.
