In the picture, some policemen can be seen. A policeman is holding a poster in his hands. In the poster it is written, (English translation) we won’t be able to lathi charge on innocent people. Vishvas News investigated the viral post and found that an old photo of Delhi police is tampered with and shared with a fake claim. In the original picture, the policeman is holding a placard in which it was written: We Want Justice. Claim On 10 October, Facebook user Harikesh Bharti uploaded a picture, writing: ‘Police don’t charge lathi, the government asks to do it.’ The policemen protested outside the ITO headquarters of Delhi Police after the lawyers misbehaved with police at the compound of Tis Hazari and Saket Court. The archived version of the Facebook post can be checked here. Investigation Vishvas News investigated the viral image using Google reverse image tool. During the search, we found the original photo on the India Today website. In the picture uploaded on November 12, 2019, some policemen can be seen where one person was holding a placard that read: We Want Justice. The report stated that the policemen protested outside the ITO headquarters of Delhi Police after the lawyers misbehaved with police at the compound of Tis Hazari and Saket Court. The same photo is tampered with and is now going viral with the fake claim. Vishvas News spoke to Delhi Police regarding the viral picture. The spokesperson of Delhi Police told Vishvas News that the viral picture is old and the placard in the hands of the police personnel is edited. We scanned the profile of the Facebook user Harikesh Bharti who shared the viral post. We found that that the user is based out of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated the viral post and found that an old photo of Delhi police is tampered with and share with fake claim.
