Meloni also invited Pope Francis to address the G7 for the first time. During his visit, Modi met some of the world leaders and held bilateral talks with France, Germany, Japan, Italy and UK. He had only a formal meeting with US president Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau. Meanwhile, a video showing PM Modi walking with another person is in circulation on the social media with the claim that Modi has refused to shake hands with president Joe Biden to keep America in place. The claim in Hindi goes as: “जो बाईडेन से हाथ न मिलाकर मो Fact Check: The claim is False. The man seen in the video is not American President Joe Biden. When we searched the keyframes extracted from the video, we found a longer video published on YouTube showing the man seen in the viral video, can be seen greeting and escorting other leaders to the venue. The title of the video is President Erdogan in Italy for the G7 Leaders Summit Another video titled ‘Biden awkwardly salutes Italian Prime Minister Giorgis Meloni as he arrives at G7 Summit’ published by New York Post also shows the same man escorting American President Joe Biden The G7 summit’s official Flickr account shared a few images of the person with American President Joe Biden. We also found a post by Indian PM Modi which shared the images of Modi shaking hands with American President Joe Biden. The caption of the post states ‘It’s always a pleasure to meet @POTUS @JoeBiden. India and USA will keep working together to further global good’ Hence, the person seen in the viral video is not US President Joe Biden. He is the man who guided Indian PM Modi to the venue. The claim that the Indian Prime Minister Modi refused to shake hands with US president Joe Biden, when he met him at the G7 Summit is False.
