The post claims that terrorists were caught at the railway station in Dahod, Gujarat. Vishvas News investigated and found the claim to be fake. It is the mock drill at the Dahod railway station that was held in order to check the security system. The video of the same mock drill is now going viral with the fake claim. Claim On April 6, the Facebook page Social Reporter Group uploaded a video claiming: “Two terrorists caught by police with courage and intelligence at Dahod railway station. Some people and employees of the railway administration were held hostage at gunpoint by the terrorists.” The archived version of the post can be seen here. Investigation Vishvas News checked the viral video carefully. Upon seeing the video, it was appearing like a mock drill video. We used the InVID tool to verify it further. We obtained multiple screengrabs and searched them using Google reverse image search. We found a report on Divya Bhaskar’s website. The report was published in the Gujarati language. Using Google translate we found that on March 31 a mock drill was held at Dahod railway station. The complete report can be read here. We also found a video of the same mock drill on YouTube that was shot from a different angle. The full video of the mock drill was found in a post published on April 4. It clearly stated that it was a mock drill. Watch the full video here. Vishvas News contacted the Public Relations Officer of the Western Railways. He told us that the viral video is of a mock drill that was held at Dahod railway station. We also contacted senior journalist Prashant Nema of Gujarat regarding the viral video. He also confirmed that the viral video was of a mock drill. We scanned the Facebook page that shared the viral post. We found that the page has 185 followers and was created on May 5, 2020. Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found the post viral with the claim “Two terrorists caught at Dahod Raily Station” to be fake. It is the video of a mock drill that was held at the Dahod railway station that was held in order to check the security system.
