New Delhi (Vishvas News). India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah suffered a back injury during the Sydney Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and has been out of the team since then. Meanwhile, two pictures of him on a hospital bed have gone viral on social media, with many people sharing them, believing them to be real.
However, Vishvas News, in its investigation, found that the viral pictures have been created using AI.
What is going viral?
Facebook user ‘Nitish Chaupal’ shared the viral pictures on February 7, 2025, with the caption, “Jasprit Bumrah’s deteriorating condition, be a true patriot, bless him by giving him a like and give him love and he is the pride of India, he is our life and he is great.”

Investigation
To investigate the viral post, we first closely analysed the pictures. In both images, the face appeared unnaturally smooth, and the background blur seemed artificial. To verify the authenticity of these images, we decided to run these pictures through AI image detection tools.
Hive Moderation detected a 98-99% probability of these pictures to be AI-created.
SightEngine indicated a 99% probability of these pictures being AI-created.
We contacted AI expert and researcher Azahar Machwe, who confirmed that these pictures are AI-created.
Following this, we conducted a keyword search to check about Jasprit Bumrah’s health. Bumrah suffered a back injury during the Sydney Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Since then he has been out of the team. Jasprit Bumrah has also been ruled out of India’s squad for the Champions Trophy 2025 due to his fitness status..
Finally, we scanned the account of Facebook user Nitish Chaupal who shared the photo with a false claim and found that the user has about 9000 followers.
Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the viral picture of Jasprit Bumrah lying in the hospital has been created using AI.
