A reverse search of keyframes from the viral video led us to several media reports about this incident. According to a report in The Tribune containing a screengrab from the viral clip, several deputies traded punches is a brawl in Jordan’s Parliament on December 28, 2021. Reportedly, a verbal row escalated into a scuffle when the Assembly Speaker called on a deputy to leave. An extended version of the clip was shared by Reuters.
Per The Guardian, the incident unfolded during a session in Amman, the capital of Jordan, where lawmakers were discussing a proposed amendment to the constitution--adding the female noun for a Jordanian citizen, to a chapter in the constitution that guaranteed equal rights to all citizens.
However, several MPs branded the amendment as "useless" during a heated debate in the House of Representatives. The punch-up began over the refusal of a member to apologise over unwarranted remarks during the session, all of which was broadcast live on a Jordanian news channel.
Per reports, the debate went out of hand when MP Suleiman Abu Yahya accused Speaker of the House Abdul Karim Dughmi of being unable to run the parliamentary meeting, following which a group of MPs engaged in verbal altercations and fisticuffs. Reportedly, no one was injured during the incident and the parliamentary session was adjourned for 30 minutes.
It is thus clear that an old clip of a brawl among deputies in the Parliament of Jordan was falsely shared as an Israeli incident.
