  • A video of a young girl is being circulated on social media platforms with a claim that it shows a nine-year-old girl from a Muslim country who was pregnant. What have users said?: An X (formerly Twitter) premium user shared the clip with a caption that said, "This girl is only 9 years old and she is already pregnant. Her only ‘fault’ was that she was born in a Muslim Country." What are the facts?: The viral claim is false. The clip could be traced back to July 2024 and shows a child enacting the gender-reveal parties and playing a fictional character named 'Soheila'. How did we find that out?: A simple Google Lens search on the viral clip led us to a similar visual published by an X user. The caption suggested that the girl in the video was not pregnant and is in fact a child artist. The post shared on 14 January urged users to not spread misinformation. It also carried the screenshot of the child artist's Instagram account. Taking this as clue, we searched for the handle on Google and found the Instagram handle. The same clip was posted on 20 July 2024. In the comment section, we found several comments clarifying that the girl is not really pregnant and is simply imitating her mother. Another video was published on the same day, where she appears in different attires and plays different characters. This, too, indicated that the entire thing was fictional and not real as claimed. The clip's caption said, "In the next post, the baby's gender." What did the account's bio say?: On going through the Instagram account, we found that the child was named 'Nahal', who identified herself as an artist. The bio further mentioned phrases like "loves acting" and "Samira Soheila's story". We have reached out to the account and the report will be updated as and when a response is received. Reaching out to a local fact-checking organisation: We spoke to Farhan Souzanchi from a fact-checking organisation named 'Factnameh' for translation and they said, "Apparently based on her own claims, she has created two characters/alter egos in her page. Two young women called Soheila and Samira, both married and one of them (Soheila) is now pregnant. The gender reveal videos are her playing as Soheila." Conclusion: It is evident that the viral claim is false and is being shared to mislead the viewers. (Not convinced of a post or information you came across online and want it verified?
