This video was shot in Abids, Hyderabad.
The recent killing of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has attracted national and international attention, with the state government receiving both praise and criticism.
Many are taking to social media to express their take on the issue, which has polarised people on the two sides. A local Congress leader Rajkumar Singh Rajju was arrested in Prayagraj on April 19, after a purported video of him placing the tricolour on the grave of a gangster-politician went viral.
Now another video of a man, coming down heavily on UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the state police for the murders is being shared on social media. In the viral video, the man can be heard using profanity against the CM and accusing the Yogi government of orchestrating the killings. Believing the video was shot in UP, several individuals have shared it while tagging UP police and demanding action against the man.

India Today, in its investigation, found that the video was shot in Hyderabad, Telangana.
What we know
Upon close examination of the viral video, we observed a signboard of a textile shop, "NEW HIGH CHOCES2," behind the man. The board appeared to be a mirror image, indicating that the video was likely shot using the front camera of a mobile phone. To decipher the text written on the board, we flipped the video.
Despite our attempts to search for the shop on Google Maps, we were unable to locate it. However, a keyword search on Facebook yielded a 2019 post about the inauguration of a textile shop called "New Hi-Choice 2" in Hyderabad. Using the contact information provided in the post, we reached out to the proprietor of the shop, Mohammed Syed, and shared the viral video with him. Syed confirmed that the shop seen in the video belonged to him and was located near MPM Mall in Hyderabad's Abids area. He even shot a video of the area and provided us with it, to confirm the location.
To be cent per cent sure, we compared the video sent by Syed with the Google Street View of the area and found multiple similarities between the two, verifying that the video is indeed from Abids.
We have included a satellite view of the textile shop, "New Hi-Choice 2," The Google Maps location of the shop can be seen here.
Further, to locate the exact site where the viral video was shot, we reached out to a few shops near MPM Mall and received confirmation from the owners of “Waseem Watches” and “Consumer World” that the video is indeed from Hyderabad's Abids area.
Who’s the man in the video?
We reached out to Abids police inspector B Prasada Rao who confirmed to us that the man seen in the video has been identified by police. Speaking to us, the inspector said, "The name of the person seen in the video is Nasir. He’s a resident of Delhi but has been living in the Karwan area of Hyderabad for almost a year."
As per the latest update we received from the police, Nasir has been arrested and a case has been registered under section 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code.
We want to clarify that in this story, we have only examined the location of the video. We have not independently verified the identity of the man seen in the video, nor can we independently ascertain his arrest.
