| - A photo which purportedly shows schoolchildren holding up a sign which reads, 'All Indians are brothers and sisters. Stop North vs South Divide. #GetOutStalin' — referring to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin — has gone viral on social media.
How did we find out the truth?: First, we noticed a few details about the viral photo.
One girl's hand appears to pass through the sign, while another girl's hand has six fingers.
These details, along with a watermark reading 'Grok', X's AI tool, indicate that the image is an AI-generated one.
To confirm this, we submitted the image to two AI-generated content detection tools, by SightEngine and Hive Moderation.
SightEngine's analysis showed a 99 percent certainty that the image was not real, but an AI-generated one.
Similarly, Hive Moderation's tool showed a 96.9 percent certainty that the image was generated using AI tools.
Conclusion: An AI-generated image is being shared to claim that it shows students protesting Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin.
