In February 2025, claims circulated on Facebook (archived), TikTok (archived) and X (archived) that a U.S. representative introduced a bill that would make President Donald Trump's birthday a federal holiday.

For example, one Facebook user wrote:
As of now, President Donald Trump's birthday is not recognized as a national holiday. However, on February 14, 2025, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney introduced the "Trump's Birthday and Flag Day Holiday Establishment Act," proposing June 14—Trump's birthday and Flag Day—as a federal holiday. This bill aims to honor both the president's contributions and the significance of the American flag. The proposal is currently under consideration and has not been enacted into law.
Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney of New York did indeed introduce a bill on Feb. 14, 2025, that would make June 14 a federal holiday to mark Trump's birthday. Therefore, we have rated this claim as true.
June 14 also is Flag Day, a holiday that celebrates the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the U.S. flag in 1777.
Tenney's bill would make the date and its proposed twin celebrations a federal holiday, meaning federal employees would get the day off work. Members of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform must now discuss the bill and could vote it through to the next stage of the lawmaking process.
The bill, H.R. 1395, also titled "To amend title 5, United States Code, to designate Trump's Birthday and Flag Day as a legal public holiday," will not become law until it has been passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate and then signed by the president.
In a news release on her website, Tenney said the holiday would recognize Trump "as the founder of America's Golden Age" and guarantee his "contributions to American greatness … are forever enshrined in law":
No modern president has been more pivotal for our country than Donald J. Trump. As both our 45th and 47th President, he is the most consequential President in modern American history, leading our country at a time of great international and domestic turmoil. From brokering the historic Abraham Accords to championing the largest tax relief package in American history, his impact on the nation is undeniable. Just as George Washington's Birthday is codified as a federal holiday, this bill will add Trump's Birthday to this list, recognizing him as the founder of America's Golden Age. Additionally, as our nation prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, we should create a new federal holiday honoring the American Flag and all that it represents. By designating Trump's Birthday and Flag Day as a federal holiday, we can ensure President Trump's contributions to American greatness and the importance of the American Flag are forever enshrined in law.
The full text of the bill was not available online at the time of this writing.
In order for the legislation to proceed, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform must vote to "report" it, either with or without amendments. However, they could choose to "table" it, meaning no further action on the bill will occur. The committee is currently made up of 26 Republican members and 21 Democratic members.
