The Saryu Deepotsav is a Diwali celebration in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, that involves lighting thousands of earthen lamps, or diyas along the banks of the Saryu River. This tradition of lighting lamps was started in 2017 at a place called Ram ki Paidi. It has been setting new records year after year. This time the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath announced that this year 1,100 Vedacharyas will perform Saryu aarti, stretching from Laxman Kila Ghat to Naya Ghat. A total of 25 lakh lamps will be illuminated along the banks of the Saryu River. The tourism department is busy with the preparations for creating world records. The first record will be the lighting of 25 lakh earthen lamps and the second will be of 1100 people performing the largest aarti together on the ghats of river Saryu. Meanwhile, a video of an altercation between a few people on the streets of Ayodhya is going viral with the claim that two young men traveling on a bike, picked up a tiff with some sadhus after the latter molested a girl. The claim in Hindi goes “अयोध्या में 2 साधुओं ने लड़की Fact check: The claim is Misleading. The video of an altercation between some people in Ayodhya is in circulation with misleading narrative. When we searched the extracted keyframes using Google reverse image search, we found X account of D-intent data refuting the claims and stating that the police clarified that the incident occurred when one group of people was making reels and the other party made comments, sparking the altercation. The claims about the molestation are false and baseless. Two individuals were arrested and further action will be taken by the police. The posts also state that some propagandists and influencers are circulating videos with misleading claims. It shares the video byte of the Superintendent of Police of the area. X account of Ayodhya police shared the video byte of the SP with the caption in Hindi” थाना कैण्ट क्षेत्रान् When translated, it states: ‘Byte of #SPcity regarding the action being taken by the police in the incident of altercation and assault by a motorcyclist with the other party, while making a video reel on a bike at the intersection under Police Station Cantt area., there had been an altercation with the other group. Please do not spread misleading information. #UPPolice # According to the video byte by the Superintendent of Police shared by the Ayodhya Police X account, the altercation started when a party was shooting reels while on a bike and the people from other party commented. This led to the altercation but there is no angle of molestation or any such incident. Therefore, the claim that the two people seen on the bike, having an altercation with sadhus in the streets of Ayodhya, who molested a girl is misleading. No such incident occurred.
