An image of Microsoft founder and US billionaire Bill Gates with his daughter Phoebe Adele is going viral on social media with the claim that he gave a tip of $5 to a waiter because he is the son of a woodcutter.
The claim says: Bill Gates in a restaurant. After eating he gave $5 to the waiter as a tip The waiter had a strange feeling on his face after the tip. Mr. Gates realized and asked, 'What happened?' Waiter: "I am just amazed because on the same table your daughter gave tip of $500 and you her father the richest man in the world gave just $5?" Gates smiled and replied: "She is the daughter of the world's richest man, but I am son of a wood cutter." Never forget your past, it's your best teacher!
India Today Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) has found the post to be misleading. Though we could not verify the authenticity of the incident, but Gates is certainly not the son of a woodcutter.

According to his biography in his blog 'GatesNotes', his father was an attorney.
The bio says, "His dad, William H. Gates II, is a Seattle attorney and one of the co-chairs of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. His late mother, Mary Gates, was a schoolteacher, University of Washington regent, and chairwoman of United Way International."
As per 'Biography.com', Gates grew up in an upper middle-class family. International fact-check website 'Snopes' had debunked this viral story earlier.
