  • Fact Check: Video of water overflowing out of AC vent is NOT from inside Vande Bharat Express An old video shot inside the Bengaluru-Patna Sanghmitra Express is being shared with claims that it shows water overflowing out of an AC vent in the Vande Bharat Express. Listen to Story India Today Fact Check This is a 2019 video shot inside the Bengaluru-Patna Sanghmitra Express. The issue was reportedly sorted out within hours of the video going viral. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 11 flagged off the sixth Vande Bharat Express that will run between Maharashtra's Nagpur and Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur. These trains, from the very beginning, have been mired in some negative press following a series of cattle accidents. Now, a video allegedly showing water flooding a Vande Bharat train is being circulated on social media. In the video, water can be seen gushing out from an air conditioning vent. The person recording the video can be heard saying, “Water from the bathroom has entered the coach and soaked the luggage. The TT is here but no mechanic has come so far.” The archived versions of one such post can be seen here. AFWA found that the video is more than three years old and not from inside a Vande Bharat train. AFWA probe The interior of the train seen in the viral video does not look like that of the Vande Bharat Express which has chair-car seating. A reverse search of the video’s screengrab led us to multiple media reports from July 2019 that had carried the same video. According to a report by the Indian Express, the video was from the A-1 coach of the Bengaluru-Patna Sanghmitra Express. The report cited videos and photos shared by a Twitter user called @RaiSuyagya on June 29, 2019, as the source. As per reports, the accumulation of leaves in the drain hole of the air conditioning plant and consequent water accumulation in its tray had caused the problem. Quoting a railway official, India TV reported that the issue was resolved within two hours of the video being shared by the passenger. The train returning from Patna was passing through the Nagpur section when the incident occurred. The video in question was also uploaded to the YouTube channels of the Hindustan Times and Times of India in July 2019. While the first Vande Bharat Express was inaugurated on February 15, 2019, from the New Delhi Railway station, it is clear that this video is not from one of those engineless trains.
