Fact Check: Arab-American protesters shut down a school board meeting in Dearborn, Michigan earlier in October over concern regarding pro-LGBTQ books that may be too sexually explicit for children, according to the Detroit Free Press. The meeting resumed at a different location Oct. 13, ClickonDetroit reported. The Facebook image shows a screenshot of an article purportedly published by The Atlantic titled “The Evolution of White Supremacy,” with its byline attributed to MIT Technology Review reporter Abby Ohlheiser. “In Dearborn Michigan, Muslim parents who oppose teaching pornography to children become the new face of the far right,” the subheading reads. “So Muslim people are now the face of white supremacy because they don’t want their children learning about transgenderism at age 7?” the Facebook post’s caption reads in part. This image has been photoshopped. Check Your Fact could not find any such article through a search of The Atlantic’s website or its social media accounts. The original source has been removed from Twitter for violating its rules.” a spokesperson for The Atlantic confirmed to Check Your Fact. Ohlheiser’s last article in The Atlantic was published in 20114, according to her page on the website. Her other bylines in MIT Technology Review and her former page on The Washington Post do not turn up any articles under the title in the post. This is not the first time a fabricated article from The Atlantic has gone viral. Check Your Fact previously debunked a claim that the outlet published a purported article regarding Hunter Biden titled “Leave Hunter Alone.”
