  • FACT CHECK: Did Ted Cruz Ask Biden To Resign After Revealing ‘Shocking Proof’ Of Disney’s Corruption? A video shared on Facebook purports Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz asked President Joe Biden to resign after revealing “shocking proof” of Disney’s corruption. Verdict: False The video’s caption is inaccurate. The video shows an April 2021 press conference in which Cruz and other Republican Senators announced legislation to remove antitrust exemptions from Major League Baseball (MLB). Fact Check: Cruz clashed with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas during a Mar. 30 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, accusing him of allowing children “to be raped,” according to the New York Post. Mayorkas called Cruz’s comments “revolting” during the hearing, the Houston Chronicle reported. The Facebook caption claims to show a video of Cruz revealing corruption at entertainment company Disney. “Ted Cruz SILENCES Biden with SH0CKING ‘D.isney corruption’ proof…asks ‘resign now,'” the caption purports. The claim is false. There are no credible news reports suggesting Cruz has called for Biden to resign over “shocking proof” of Disney’s corruption. Likewise, the claim is neither mentioned on Cruz’s website nor on his verified social media accounts. In addition, the White House has not publicly addressed the purported claim. The over 15-minute video shows an April 2021 press conference in which Cruz and Republican Sens. Hawley (Missouri) and Lee (Utah) announce legislation to remove antitrust exemptions from the MLB. The video opens with Lee speaking, followed by remarks from Cruz and then Hawley. (RELATED: Did Jim Jordan Reveal Information From Hunter Biden’s Laptop That Implicates Jerry Nadler?) The Apr. 13 press conference held by Cruz, Hawley, and Lee followed news that the 2021 MLB All-Star Game was moved from Atlanta to Denver over Georgia Senate Bill 202, according to NBC News. The law, which took effect on July 2021, outlined provisions around the creation and issuing of special and absentee ballots and expanded early in-person voting for general elections, among other measures, USA Today indicated. At no point in the video does Cruz ask Biden to resign, nor does he reveal “shocking proof” of Disney’s purported corruption. Hawley and Lee also do not reference the purported claim. Check Your Fact has contacted Cruz’s office and the White House for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received.
