  • FACT CHECK: Does This Video Show Netanyahu Getting Attacked? A post shared on social media purportedly shows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu getting attacked while delivering a speech. 🇮🇱Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu was attacked and beaten up in Israel parliament by MPs *IBI NEWS* MUBARAK to all pic.twitter.com/y3dWXQw7kg — Ashfaq Hassan (@BrigAshfaqHasan) November 29, 2024 Verdict: False The video shows Bulgarian politician Ahmed Dogan. Fact Check: Netanyahu is reportedly “ready to do a deal” with Hamas to secure the release of hostages, Fox News reported. White House security adviser Jake Sullivan met with Netanyahu and stated he believes the Israeli Prime Minister is open to the idea, according to the outlet. A post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, allegedly shows Netanyahu getting attacked. The video shows a clip of Netanyahu before cutting to a man speaking publicly and suddenly struggling with someone that lunged at him. The caption reads, “Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu was attacked and beaten up in Israel parliament by MPs *IBI NEWS* MUBARAK to all.” The claim is inaccurate. The video is edited with two different and unrelated clips. The first part of the video was posted on Netanyahu social media. There is no attack that takes place during the speech. The second video dates back to 2013 when Bulgarian politician Ahmed Dogan was attacked. Dogan reportedly did not sustain any injuries, but did not continue speaking, according to CNN. The Guardian reported soon after the incident that the gun was a gas pistol that was loaded with pepper spray.
