  • Following the concerns over King Charles’s health amid the detection of cancer in January, several claims have surfaced on social media here and here. Even the hashtag #RoyalAnnouncement is trending on Twitter amid rumours that an “imminent announcement” is coming from the Royalty and that the BBC has been kept on alert. Amid these claims, one video appeared claiming that King Charles III appeared normal in his public function on March 18, 2024. King Charles III is pretty much okay. The Royal family released a footage of him a few hours ago. The #RoyalAnnouncement has nothing to do with anyone’s demise in Buckingham Palace. God Save the King, make him Happy and Glorious. pic.twitter.com/XdKrTAbXal — Abuga Makori EGH, MBE (@abuga_makori) March 18, 2024 FACT CHECK The Digiteye India team checked for the veracity of the video footage in the message and found the original video on YouTube that was uploaded six months ago when King Charles was received on Balmoral Castle. The footage was uploaded on YouTube by the Royal Family Channel six months ago as seen below: While the royal demise is a matter of protocol and there is no need for the Royalty to release a wrong footage as shown. Hence, the video attached to the claim is wrong. Claim: Video released by Royal Family shows King Charles III appearing at a public function on March 18, 2024. Conclusion: False. The footage of King Charles appearing at an official function six months ago was used. Rating: Misleading —
