  • FACT CHECK: Did The Creator Of Myspace Vanish After Selling His Company? A post shared on social media purports that the creator of Myspace, Tom Anderson, mysteriously disappeared after he sold the company. This is Tom Anderson. At 35 years old, he sold Myspace for $580M. Then he bizarrely vanished. Here’s his story: pic.twitter.com/mrO9v98kAv — Divine Manhood | Self Improvement (@DivineManhood) May 27, 2024 Verdict: False Anderson is not as public, but has posted on social media and been interviewed by several outlets since the sale. Fact Check: New York reveals a plan that would require social media platforms to gain parental consent before they use algorithms to curate content for children, The Wall Street Journal reported. The plan is currently only tentatively agreed upon in the state legislature. A post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, alleges Anderson vanished shortly after he sold the social media platform. The post shared an image of two people holding a framed photo of Anderson with gloves. The caption reads, “This is Tom Anderson. At 35 years old, he sold Myspace for $580M. Then he bizarrely vanished.” The claim is inaccurate. Anderson has taken to living a less public life. He sold Myspace in 2005 for $580 million, according to The Verge. However, contrary to the claim, several news reports have covered his recent endeavors. Architectural Digest interviewed him in 2017 and discussed his hobby of travel photography, and the Los Angeles Times reported in 2019 that he purchased a home in West Hollywood for $3.8 million. His last post on Facebook was in 2020. He also posted a video on Instagram in April 2024 of him and his friends golfing. (RELATED: No, Warner Bros. Check Your Fact debunked a claim that a video showed a recent attack on the Israeli consulate in Istanbul.
