  • Does a graph show Chelsea Clinton "taking home $84 million" as some social media posts claim? No, that's not true: The graph originated on a website named datarepublican.com. The amount was labeled as the "Gross receipts" of the "Bill Hillary & Chelsea Clinton" foundation, without mentioning the period it applied to. The same website listed Chelsea Clinton's compensation at that foundation as $0, which matches data from ProPublica's Nonprofit Explorer based on tax filings. The graph appeared in a post on X (archived here) published February 6, 2025 which was captioned: Chelsea Clinton casually taking home $84 million This is what the graph looked like: (Source: image captured from x.com by Lead Stories on February 6, 2025 at 08:51:51 UTC) The graph matches with the one found on datarepublican.com (archived here and here). It is unclear what data sources were used to create the graph or which years are represented by the data. It listed the amount of $83,624,489 under "Gross receipts" in a box labeled "Bill Hillary & Chelsea Clinton" subtitled "EIN: 31-1580204". The EIN (Employer Identification Number) listed in the graph is the one of the "Bill Hillary & Chelsea Clinton" foundation. According to ProPublica's Nonprofit explorer (archived here), which is based on tax filings, the foundation had about $30.5 million in revenue in 2023 and it listed $0 as the amount of compensation received by Chelsea Clinton for her work as "Vice Chair": (Source: screenshot of propublica.com taken by Lead Stories on February 6, 2025 at 10:23:12 UTC) Data Republican's website also listed Chelsea Clinton's compensation as "$0" in all search results, including the one related to the "Bill Hillary & Chelsea Clinton" foundation (Source: screenshot of datarepublican.com taken by Lead Stories on February 6, 2025 at 10:17:25 UTC) According to WHOIS.com info (archived here), the Data Republican website was anonymously registered on January 30, 2025. It lists no owner or publisher and describes itself as: Have you ever wondered where the money goes? Billions of dollars are spent on government grants, charities, and other organizations every year. We're connecting the dots between government grants, charities, and drawing connections to expose where the money flows. We've found some interesting connections, and we've made the data available for you to explore. At the time of writing the website did not list the data sources it used for the graph.
