A set of three images are going viral on social media to claim that Indian archaeologists have allegedly unearthed "ancient spaceships".
The caption claims that this was found in Antarctica but later notes that this was "discovered in an Indian village".
(Archives of similar claims can be seen here and here. )
What's the truth?: These images are not real and have been created using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
How did we find out the truth?: We performed a reverse image search on the viral images and did not come across any credible reports that would support the claim.
Next, we checked the official website of Archaeological Survey of India but did not find any report about such spaceships.
We then ran these images on AI-detection tools, Hive Moderation and Sight Engine.
The results concluded that these images are not real and are created using AI tools.
Sight Engine reported the image to be 99 percent AI-generated.
It also predicted that this was created on MidJourney, a generative AI program.
Conclusion: AI-generated images are going viral to claim that Indian archeologists found ancient spaceships in Antarctica.
