  • FACT CHECK: Does This Image Show A Trump Truth Social Post About Ron DeSantis? An image shared on Twitter claims to show former President Donald Trump posting on Truth Social about Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Given Trump’s recent premature arrestulation, I’m inclined to the think the allegedly-unauthorized FEC filing for “Desantis for President” may have been his people’s doing. And I hate Ron Dion DeSantis more than most, but his wife is hardly ‘averave.’ pic.twitter.com/NvhNKN3nP1 — Rebekah Jones (@GeoRebekah) April 16, 2023 Verdict: False The image is digitally altered. The Truth Social post does not exist. Fact Check: A pro-Trump PAC released an ad mocking DeSantis over a rumor that he ate pudding with his fingers and criticizing his voting record on Social Security and Medicare, according to Insider. The ad is part of a campaign to attack DeSantis as he weighs a potential 2024 presidential run, the outlet reported. The image claims to show a Truth Social post from Trump attacking “Three Fingers Ron” and his wife over DeSantis allegedly filing to run for president, calling it one of the dumbest moves in politics. However, there is no evidence that Trump released this post. If Trump had made that statement on Truth Social, media outlets would have covered it, yet none have. Check Your Fact reviewed both Truth Social and Trump’s website and did not find any statements resembling the one in the Twitter image. Check Your Fact also reviewed archived screenshots from the Wayback Machine and archive.today. These screenshots did not yield any results for the alleged Truth Social post from Trump. Ron Filipkowski, an attorney and a DeSantis critic, said that the alleged Trump Truth Social post was fake. (RELATED: Did Trump Release A Statement Calling DeSantis A ‘RINO?’) And another one … pic.twitter.com/VLnDQ4jQTh — Ron Filipkowski 🇺🇦 (@RonFilipkowski) April 16, 2023 Trump has attacked DeSantis on Social Security and Medicare in recent weeks, including a lengthy Truth Social post Apr. 17. Misinformation around DeSantis and Trump is not new. Check Your Fact recently debunked a video claiming DeSantis said that people would have no choice but to accept him as their candidate due to Trump’s indictment.
