India Today Fact Check
This video is more than one year old and has no connection with the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
Hundreds of people lost their lives following an air strike at the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza on October 17. While the origin of the rocket remains to be determined — both Israeli and Palestinian authorities have pointed fingers at each other — a video allegedly showing the deadly attack happening has surfaced online.
The video shows a fireball in the night sky boomeranging. Sharing it, one Twitter user wrote, “Stop with the propaganda. Israel did NOT attack any hospital. This was a heavy rocket that failed to launch and fell on the Gazans. 30 per cent of their launches are failed.”
Another Twitter user shared the video and wrote, “Failed rocket by Hamas hit a hospital.” Its archive can be seen here.

Our Probe
We first noticed that many on Twitter responded to the viral video, calling it old. Upon reverse-searching its keyframes, we found that some social media accounts had shared it in August 2022.
Several of these posts called the video a failed rocket launched by the militant group Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Avia.pro, a Russian military portal, on the other hand, called it a misfired anti-aircraft guided missile fired by Israel.
India Today could not independently verify the source of the video.
However, it is quite evident that the video in question has nothing to do with the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict that began on October 7, 2023.
