New Delhi (Vishvas News). A photo of Rahul Gandhi, MP from Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, is going viral on social media. The image shows him with a foreign woman. Some posts claim that she is his wife and has two children.
Vishvas News investigated the viral post and found it to be fake. The woman in the picture is Spanish actress Natalia Ramos, and the claims about her being Rahul’s wife are misleading.
What is going viral?
On August 20, 2024, Facebook user Rsmnaresh Shakya (Archive Link) shared a picture with the caption, “The truth about Roll_Vinci is about to be exposed. His wife is Jonita Vinci, a 19-year-old son Nehak Vinci, and a 15-year-old daughter Minik Vinci.”
The image stated, “Wikileaks has revealed that Raul Vinci is married with two children living in London. His wife is Colombian. Their children are a 14-year-old boy named Niak and a 10-year-old girl named Mainak. Rahul Gandhi is misleading the country by claiming to be unmarried.”

Investigation
To verify the claim, Vishvas News examined the keyframes from the viral post using Google Lens. Our search led us to the X handle of Spanish actress Natalia Ramos, where the same photo was posted on September 14, 2017, with Rahul Gandhi and Berggruen Institute tagged in it.
The caption of the photo reads, “Last night with the eloquent and knowledgeable Rahul Gandhi.”
In our search, we discovered a report on Aaj Tak’s website dated September 21, 2017, stating that Rahul Gandhi met Spanish-Australian actress Natalia Ramos during his visit to America. Natalia also posted a picture of this meeting on her social media handles. During this visit, Rahul Gandhi participated in the India @ 70 program, which included events at UC Berkeley, Princeton University and Times Square.
Additionally, we found the video of the event on the Berggruen Institute’s YouTube channel, uploaded on September 22, 2017. The video revealed that besides Rahul Gandhi, Milind Deora and Sam Pitroda also attended the program.

Continuing our investigation, we reached out to senior journalist Adesh Rawal, who covers Congress. He confirmed that the viral post is misleading and objectionable.
Rawal also addressed this issue on his X handle, clarifying that the picture of the Spanish actress is being falsely presented with misleading claims.
