  • Fact Check: 2017 truck ramming video FALSELY shared as recent Tel Aviv incident India Today Fact Check found that the viral video is from 2017 when a Palestinian driver rammed his truck into Israeli soldiers in Jerusalem. Listen to Story India Today Fact Check This video is from 2017. A Palestinian driver rammed his truck into Israeli soldiers in Jerusalem. A truck rammed into a bus stop in Ramat Hasharon, a city northeast of Tel Aviv on October 27, killing one person and injuring a dozen others. The suspected terror attack occurred close to Israel’s Glilot military base. Now a video going viral on social media shows a truck crashing into several people and others running for their lives. Many claimed the video showed the recent truck ramming incident in Tel Aviv. An X user wrote, “Confirmed reports from the occ territories, 17+ killed & 50+ injured (mostly critical) Zionist soldiers from the 8200 spy unit in Tel Aviv. Many stayed stuck under the truck for a long time. The hero went down and finished them off with a knife. See the cowards fleeing the stage.” Its archive can be seen here. India Today Fact Check found that the viral video is from 2017 when a Palestinian driver rammed his truck into Israeli soldiers in Jerusalem. Our Probe A reverse image search led us to a Washington Post report containing the viral video’s screengrab, published on January 8, 2017. As per the report, the incident took place just blocks from the US Consulate in Jerusalem when a Palestinian driver rammed his truck into a group of Israeli soldiers that day. Israeli police officials called this incident a terrorist attack. According to a January 2017 report in The Mirror, the attacker, Fadi Ahmad Hamdan Qunbor, was an ISIS supporter. Four soldiers were killed in this attack, three of whom were women. Reportedly, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the scene and discussed Israel's response. We also found a video report by CBS New York dated January 9, 2017, that described the attacker as a 28-year-old ISIS supporter. Thus, it is more than clear that a 7-year-old video of a truck ramming into Israeli soldiers in Jerusalem is falsely shared as recent.
