  • FACT CHECK: Video Shows Airsoft Production, Not Russian Ambush Of Americans In Ukraine A post shared on X claims to show Russians ambushing American fighters in Ukraine. #Footage of what appears to be a Russian special operations team ambushing an English speaking #Ukrainian patrol. “It’s a fucking trap” is the last thing heard uttered in an #American accent. The footage was recovered from the body of the American fighter. pic.twitter.com/nl6XtuFG7u — War Insights (@warinsights4you) February 25, 2025 Verdict: False The video originates from an airsoft creator. There is no indication it was taken in Ukraine. Fact Check: Social media users are claiming a video shows Russians ambushing Americans in Ukraine. One user wrote, “#Footage of what appears to be a Russian special operations team ambushing an English speaking #Ukrainian patrol. ‘It’s a fucking trap’ is the last thing heard uttered in an #American accent. The footage was recovered from the body of the American fighter.” This claim is false. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the video originates from an Instagram account that shares “Mil-Sim airsoft content and short films.” The original video was shared back in January. While it has no description nor any external indications, the video shows several factors that it is airsoft. Check Your Fact, therefore, rates this claim false.
